Dinner of the Grand Chefs Wednesday 13 April 2011
This past April 6th, the chateau of Versailles was the chosen venue for an exceptional evening to honor French gastronomy. 650 guests were invited by Jaume Tàpies, the International President of Relai & Chateaux, and by Marc Haeberlin, President of Grandes Tables du Monde. The meal bore the signature of 60 grand Michelin-starred Chefs and was executed by teams from Potel and Chabot.
The proceeds from this evening were in part for aid to , and also to help finance the future Cité de la Gastronomie. This project was initiated following the gastronomic French meal that was registered into UNESCO's Non-material World Heritage in November 2010.
France''s terroirs were given the spotlight by internationally recognized Chefs: scallops, lobster, spring morels, wild bass, lamb, Challans duck, Roquefort from Combalou, and, of course, foie gras. The Interprofessional Committee of Foie Gras (CIFOG) co-sponsored this special event, and guests were able to enjoy this emblematic product during the apéritif, served with yet another famous ambassador of French gastronomy, champagne.
